Beginning on July 25, 2011, the Madison County Road & Bridge crew will begin tearing out the existing pavement, concrete, and the Sheriff Department’s storage building on the old Co-Op property, which is located just to the west of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department Building. The work will involve the removal of asphalt, concrete, the cinder block storage building, and about 18 inches of underlying soil. The county crew will then haul and place 12 inches of pit run gravel, topped by 3 ½ inches of crushed base material. This will prepare the parking lot for a Contractor to form and pour new curb, gutter, and sidewalks. New asphalt will also be placed, along with lighting and landscaping. The parking lot area will be closed until the parking lot is completed, which should be some time in October. Thank you.
